Deputy Team Manager (Occupational Therapist)

This is a dynamic role that requires an Occupational Therapist with excellent skills in communication, organisation and creativity with the drive to enhance high quality services.

The role will promote safe and innovative approaches to meeting the needs of both service users and carers in line with best practice and quality assurance. Together with the team manager you will ensure occupational therapy is embedded within the team’s work and associated pathways are enhanced.

You will hold a small caseload and offer OT consultation across the department, provide professional supervision to the department’s 3 OTs and also supervise a small number of other social care staff.

The team:

The Care and Support Team (CAST) provides specialist assessment, review and interventions to mental health service users via person centred and strengths based approaches. We aim to ensure needs are met via tailored interventions, promoting independence, safeguarding and enabling choice/control over support so people can achieve their goals and improve wellbeing.

The team comprises Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Business Support. This inter-professional approach allows the sharing of skills to ensure that we work flexibly and constructively to support service users and carers. We work in collaboration with colleagues in the local mental health NHS trust and a range of partners and providers.

About you:

We are looking for an innovative and skilled Occupational Therapist with a proven track-record of making a difference within a culturally diverse, inner city area.

You will be a registered Occupational Therapist and have experience of supporting others within a health and/or adult social care setting. You will have a genuine passion for the provision of high quality services and demonstrate a commitment to strengths based support.

You will have a working knowledge of the MOHO and the Care Act 2014 and a commitment to continuing professional development.

You will have an understanding of the application of the principles of Equality and Diversity and a proactive approach to its practice.

You will have knowledge of mental health social care and the social model.
